Florida
The theme for the twelfth anniversary of Florida Archaeology Month 2004 is Fire: Illuminating the Past. Special programs planned for Florida Archaeology Month include tours of archaeological sites; films; book fairs; public and classroom lectures; museum and library exhibits; living history demonstrations; and the distribution of educational materials, posters and bookmarks. http://dhr.dos.state.fl.us/archaeology/education/archmonth/
Georgia
May 2005 marks the 12th anniversary of an archaeology awareness promotion in Georgia. From its inception as a weeklong celebration in 1994, the observance has grown to an entire month of special public events, exhibits, and demonstrations in communities across the state. This year’s theme focuses specifically on archaeological sites linked to the Indian Removal period in Georgia. The spring meeting of the Society for Georgia Archaeology (SGA), principal sponsor of Georgia Archaeology Month, will be held April 29-30 at Cohutta Lodge in Chatsworth. Iowa

Kansas
The theme of Kansas Archaeology Month April 2005 is Faces from the Past. The full-color poster features a dramatic photo of a ceramic figurine from the Early Ceramic period Trowbridge site (14WY1) in Wyandotte County, Kansas. Accompanying the poster is an information card with other images that bring us face to face with the past. About 5,300 poster packets were mailed to Kansas schools, libraries, museums, and related organizations. Anthropological art activities, tied to the state education standards, and a calendar of events are posted on the Professional Archaeologists of Kansas web page at www.ksarchaeo.info/KAM.html.
